Art Deco study.

Art Deco was an art style popularized in the roaring twenties and is most notable for its contrasting colours, emphasis on bright lights and metallic shades. This, even if it is subconscious, is likely one of the first things one would think about when the time period is mentioned. The gilded gleam of the metallic spires that so often appear in this art style manifests the lifestyle of the upper escalations of society in the 20s. The city of Rapture in Bioshock encapsulates this ideal hauntingly, showing just how the hedonistic lifestyle this art style often propitiates can lead to downfall. The city is comparable to Icarus, whose hubris had him scorched by the sun.
